Sarah K Chen Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

If I love doing something, there’s nothing in the world that will stop me from doing it. Case in point: I grew up drawing on the walls of my house, much to the chagrin of my parents, who had to repaint the interior before they could sell it. Though I no longer use crayons to express myself, I still have that passion today for creating beautiful images.

I now use a camera to capture what would otherwise be fleeting moments between two people sharing in the excitement of beginning a new life together. There is little else that can evoke such strong emotion and bring back cherished memories as a well-composed photo, and I aim to capture just that with each one I take. I want my images to hold a special place in your heart for years to come.

I feel honored to be present at such a significant time in my clients’ lives and hope you’ll invite me to become part of yours, too.

A portrait session makes such a great gift! Christina, one of my soon to be brides gifted her sister with a Lil Ones Portrait session which turned out so, so cute! Eileen and Jason came up with a vintage picnic inspired shoot complete with old radio, bottles of coke and classic children’s books which created...

Cypress Juniper Album

I know I’ve spoken about my love of Cypress Fine Art Albums, but I just had to follow that up with some lovely images. This was made from baby Zach’s portrait session and I just love how it turned out. The gray silk and teal ribbon binding fit so well with Christine’s home and overall...

Sophie’s First Birthday

The Chen family had the privilege of attending baby Sophie’s first birthday party recently and it was such a grand affair! But I expected nothing short of spectacular since Sophie’s Mom is Linda of Grand Soirees. The neapolitan ice cream themed bash was so adorable and stylish! I couldn’t help but capture some of the...

Jessica & Eddie’s Wedding

I loved so much about Jessica and Eddie’s wedding. They decided to do their first look and portraits at LACMA where they had the cutest first look moment ever! Eddie’s Mom shed tears throughout the ceremony which brought me to tears. And had me wondering if I’d be the same way when Ellie gets married....

Tanaka Farms

I wasn’t even sure this roll of film would turn out. I shot a roll of 120 on my Rolleiflex T while watermelon picking at Tanaka Farms and didn’t realize that I hadn’t fully latched the bottom of the camera until I had finished off the roll. I thought I’d have major light leaks, but...

I met Sharon and Brian for the first time at their engagement session in Pasadena a couple of weeks ago and was greeted with such great big smiles that I just knew we’d hit it off right away. I loved hearing how Sharon and Brian met each other! Remember that Sex and the City episode...

In the Blink of an Eye : Ellie

Tiffany commented on the post below asking, when did Ellie get so big? And it got me thinking….where did the time go? It’s already August and the year seems to have flown by.  My favorite sounds are Ellie’s little feet walking through our house. Her feet on the tile sound like little suction cups when...
