Sarah K Chen Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

I'm a simple person who loves photographing people and spending time with my husband and two little girls, Ellie (4) and Emmeline (1). My girls are my world and every day I wonder how I became so blessed to be their Mama.

When I'm not behind the camera I love to knit and sew cute things for my girls and bake cookies. My husband likes to say I'm a granny at heart, but I like to say I'm a woman of many talents. ;)

I also enjoy snowboarding, traveling and immersing myself in books. One day I will conquer Cornice and get down without snowplowing my way. I dream of traveling to Greece, Italy and Paris one day, but I have yet to convince the husband that traveling abroad with two little ones would be aweome. I'd also love to go camping and show my girls the joys of a perfectly toasted marshmallow and walking barefoot through an icy cold creek bed. And although I said it would never happen, I now read most of my books on my iPhone or iPad instead of a book. Have kids and you'll soon realize the gift of a built in light and always having your book with you.

I'm based in Orange County, California and ocassionally travel for shoots.

Heritage Museum Wedding : Andrea and Ken

Andrea and Ken share a love that is so incredibly special. It’s evident in the way they laugh together and in the way he snuggles Andrea as if there’s no other place he’d rather be. I had the honor of photographing these two lovely souls and I have to say it was probably one of...

Karen and Allen’s Skirball Wedding

I love a happy, relaxed couple on their wedding day. Every detail had been carefully thought out and planned with the help of Gloria and her team at Grand Engagements and so Karen and Allen were able to just enjoy their beautiful day together as they became husband and wife.  It was a brisk winter...

Sherri & Patrick’s Day After Session at LA Arboretum

I know I’ve been a bad blogger lately, but I’ve been so busy. Doing what, you ask? Oh, you know, growing a baby in my belly (just 10 weeks to go!). I will whole heartedly admit that this pregnancy has been kicking my butt. Hard. I’ve been working like mad on all the weddings/albums/shoots/editing in...

Montira & Chat’s Santa Monica Engagement Session

You probably recognize this beautiful couple since I recently posted their engagement session at Condor’s Nest Ranch. Prior to even seeing their images from their first session with me, they booked another and I’m so glad they did!  Montira wore her wedding gown this time and looked so beautiful. I was a little worried about...

Hilda & John’s Downtown Los Angeles Engagement Session

I love Hilda and John!  Hilda and I bonded over Marc Jacobs cross body bags and John had me at “I’m a chef.”    I had so much fun with these two in downtown LA shooting their engagement session. We started off at Union Station and then made our way to a park near Hilda’s...

Aimi & John’s Seven Degrees Wedding

What I loved most about Aimi and John’s wedding is that it was so them.  From the sky high Louboutin’s that Aimi rocked to the awesome mix and match plaid ties the guys wore, to the the ultra modern Seven Degrees venue – this wedding was stylish, sexy and so much fun to shoot. And...
