Sarah K Chen Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

If I love doing something, there’s nothing in the world that will stop me from doing it. Case in point: I grew up drawing on the walls of my house, much to the chagrin of my parents, who had to repaint the interior before they could sell it. Though I no longer use crayons to express myself, I still have that passion today for creating beautiful images.

I now use a camera to capture what would otherwise be fleeting moments between two people sharing in the excitement of beginning a new life together. There is little else that can evoke such strong emotion and bring back cherished memories as a well-composed photo, and I aim to capture just that with each one I take. I want my images to hold a special place in your heart for years to come.

I feel honored to be present at such a significant time in my clients’ lives and hope you’ll invite me to become part of yours, too.

Angela & Derek: Engagement Session in San Diego & Del Mar

I met up with Angela and Derek in the Little Italy area of downtown San Diego where we started off our session. Angela’s favorite color is yellow so when I spotted this, I knew the background would be perfect for her.

It was mostly overcast that afternoon, but the sun did peak on out occasion.

We did a quick stop at Extraordinary Desserts for some drinks (the iced chocolate chai is divine!) and a change of clothes. I did some shopping for Ellie as well, who knew a dessert shoppe would carry such cute baby wares? Then we headed over to Del Mar to finish off their session at the beach. We found this great railroad on our way down.

Angela is a girl after my own heart. We own the same Chicancery cardigan in different colors from Anthropologie, and this Anthro dress is so perfect on her, I’m wearing similar heels in grey satin for my sister in law’s wedding, and I am completely smitten by her Van Cleef and Arpels jewelry.

June 25, 2009 - 11:11 am Ashlee Mate - Beautiful pictures! It kinda makes me wish we'd done ours at the beach! :) Fun fact (since you know I'm full of them): the tree is growing that way because of the constant flow of wind in that direction. Talk to you later! Can't wait for our pictures!!
