In one of the first emails Tyanne wrote to me she said, “Gavin wants me to warn you that I’m a horrible model…” My first thought was, “Uh oh. What kind of man says that about his fiance?” And got a bit worried. But then she continued on to tell me the back story behind their little joke.
A couple of years ago Gavin took up amateur photography. He recently bought a new camera and hasn’t had much time to use it. So on Easter he lured me to Palos Verdes under the pretense that we would have a mini photo shoot of us so that he can practice using his new camera. He ended up surprising me with a proposal, but it almost didn’t happen because of my attitude
I was wearing a dress and it was freeeezing up there. I was uncomfortable and as a result annoyed. Poor Gavin set up all of his equipment while I waited in the warm car. Once everything was in place, I had to walk across a mostly dirt field to get to his location (in my heels) and it felt like he was taking forever to take each picture. So I was basically pouting like a 4 year old (see attached picture, which was the very first picture he took of the day). What a romantic setting for a proposal, right? I basically killed any attempt he had at romance. Sadly he switched his camera to video mode and filmed the whole thing (including my pouting). Hopefully that video will never surface!!! So now his joke is that I’m a terrible model. And now you are probably fearful of shooting us! Don’t worry, I’m not a diva and promise not to pout for you!
I think every girl can relate to this. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve asked for Jeff’s jacket or how many times I’d told him I’d rather not go for that stroll after dinner because these hot little heels you see here? They’re made for sitting and looking pretty. The most walking they will do is from the car to the restaurant/bar.
But let me tell you. Tyanne and Gavin made the most wonderful models ever. They’re both incredibly gorgeous and their love for each other was so evident. The two of them are the kindest people you will ever meet, easy to smile and laugh and with so many interesting stories to tell. Gavin had just come back from a trip to Tanzania, Africa where he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro! How amazing is that? We had so much fun at the this session and I am so in love with these images!
On my drive up to Malibu it got extremely dark and overcast around Santa Monica which made me a little sad because I knew Tyanne and Gavin were hoping for soft golden light. But as I neared the top of the mountain I was greeted with sun! And it was perfection!
It was a bit windy at the beach, but I was digging it. There’s something so romantic about hair blowing in the wind. Love!
The light and wind was just amazing and I love these next two so much.
