Sarah K Chen Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

If I love doing something, there’s nothing in the world that will stop me from doing it. Case in point: I grew up drawing on the walls of my house, much to the chagrin of my parents, who had to repaint the interior before they could sell it. Though I no longer use crayons to express myself, I still have that passion today for creating beautiful images.

I now use a camera to capture what would otherwise be fleeting moments between two people sharing in the excitement of beginning a new life together. There is little else that can evoke such strong emotion and bring back cherished memories as a well-composed photo, and I aim to capture just that with each one I take. I want my images to hold a special place in your heart for years to come.

I feel honored to be present at such a significant time in my clients’ lives and hope you’ll invite me to become part of yours, too.

Jackie & Lee: Engagement at the W Hotel and UCLA

Jackie and Lee met on campus at UCLA while doing their undergrad, but it wasn’t until years later that they would meet again and the sparks would fly. They graduated from UCLA and he stayed on the West Coast for med school while she made the East Coast her home for the next few years as she attended Harvard. It wasn’t until they saw each other at a mutual friend’s wedding that they reconnected and started their relationship towards happily ever after.

We started our shoot at the W Hotel in Westwood which has some really amazing decor. In between shots Jackie and I talked about our obsession with shoes and what a small world we live in since one of her bridesmaids (Hi Melissa!) went to high school with Jeff and his sister!

Jackie and Lee are so cute together! I love when my couples are so easy going in front of my camera.

When we finally made our way onto campus, we were blessed with some really incredible light.

Lee says he’s not comfortable being in front of the camera, but I beg to differ.

Then I gave Jackie a shot and these two both definitely know how to work it.

You want me to put my hand up? Like this? Yes, perfect…. LOL!

As we were walking on campus I noticed the silhouette of trees on this brick wall and found it so enchanting and dream like. This is one of my favorite images from the day.
