Sarah K Chen Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

I'm a simple person who loves photographing people and spending time with my husband and two little girls, Ellie (4) and Emmeline (1). My girls are my world and every day I wonder how I became so blessed to be their Mama.

When I'm not behind the camera I love to knit and sew cute things for my girls and bake cookies. My husband likes to say I'm a granny at heart, but I like to say I'm a woman of many talents. ;)

I also enjoy snowboarding, traveling and immersing myself in books. One day I will conquer Cornice and get down without snowplowing my way. I dream of traveling to Greece, Italy and Paris one day, but I have yet to convince the husband that traveling abroad with two little ones would be aweome. I'd also love to go camping and show my girls the joys of a perfectly toasted marshmallow and walking barefoot through an icy cold creek bed. And although I said it would never happen, I now read most of my books on my iPhone or iPad instead of a book. Have kids and you'll soon realize the gift of a built in light and always having your book with you.

I'm based in Orange County, California and ocassionally travel for shoots.

Ellie as Dorothy

She had never seen The Wizard of Oz, but she fell in love with the little fuzzy dog in a basket when we were out shopping for a potential Halloween costume for Ellie. From there we found her a wig that she adored in the store and a costume was born. I didn’t really like […]

The Self Proclaimed Tomboy : Boudoir

She inquired about doing a boudoir session, but was nervous about it. She said in her initial email that she’s more the athletic type who’s more comfortable in sports bras than corsets, but she booked anyways and check out how hot she is!  Thank you for allowing me to share these images! Seriously, I need […]

A Lazy Weekend with Your Love : Jen and Rodney’s Couples Boudoir

I’ve always wanted to shoot a couples boudoir session, but not in the traditional overtly sexy way. I liked the idea of shooting something cozy and intimate, like the perfect lazy weekend afternoon spent in bed with your love.  Now doesn’t that sound romantic? I love shooting these two so so much. The love that […]

Orange County Family Portraits : The Andrews

It’s always so fun for me to photograph families again and again. I photographed this gorgeous little girl as a newborn and was so amazed to see how much Sydney had grown since that time! I also really love being able to capture the love between parents and child. There’s just something so special and […]

Stay Cuddly

We don’t get much in regards to seasons here in Orange County. I was going to say that I hope you all are staying warm this winter, but it’s been 70-75 degrees lately so that doesn’t really make much sense. How about I leave it at: I hope you all stay cuddly this season!

Tracy and Jeff’s San Juan Capistrano Engagement

Tracy and Jeff are good friends with one of my past couples (Jennifer & Anthony) whom I absolutely adore, so it was no surprise that we hit it off as well. I was a bit worried about our engagement session as we had some horrendous rain leading up to the day and Tracy and Jeff […]
